Natural History Museum: A journey to one of my favorite museums.
Have you ever been in a place where time seems to stop and you simply see yourself as a happy kid? You don’t even care how silly you might look to the ones around you. You’re simply enjoying a moment, looking at every detail just like the first time a child step on sand. You simply don’t care because your heart is full filled by pure joy.
If there’s a place I would never get tired to visit and be a child again is the Natural History Museum of London. I visited for the first time back in February 2016 with a few friends, when I was visiting also London for the first time. That trip was really important to me, not only because I went there to work but also because it was the first time, at 18 y/o that I would leave Portugal and see a totally different reality from mine. So, everything was just exciting and beautiful at that point. Yes, even London was the most beautiful city on this planet for me, back then.
So, why this one? Why is this museum one of my favorites?
One of the reasons I love this place so much, besides feeling like a happy kid and pretending I’m inside a movie, it is a place that show us in detail life. How beautifully designed things were. I believe we’re breathing right now because we were designed and planned to be. Life is too beautiful and detailed to just be a coincidence.
I went alone last time I visited it and I noticed myself looking even more at the closest details, looking at the people around me, how happy they were. I felt joy even in my loneliness. One day, I will tell my kids how wonderful was to enter in a museum alone and simply let the moment fill my soul.
I think that is truly important for us to get lost for a bit in different realities, in our thoughts and desires. Moments like these will turn into memories. And there’s no materialistic thing that could be better than an experience. What really full fills our own selves is truly the ability to feel and collect as much as this gift called life as to give us. The share of a good story for the ones we love. Those feelings belong to our human nature. Even though as we grow, we tend to lose a bit of it.
- so, make sure you enjoy every single second on each adventure. -
